  • Alhamdulillah, my wife and I journeyed to Niagara Falls for our honeymoon. So while we were in the area we naturally searched out the Muslims in the Niagara Falls area. My wife used her 4G phone and the GPS on her phone and masha-Allah it led us to the masjid at Lackawanna, NY. The Muslims at the Lackawanna masjid are definitely at the head of the pack in Ikram and hospitality towards their Muslims brothers and sisters.
We (total strangers) arrived there seeking to make salat and meet the Muslims there and looking for an affordable motel. Unknowingly because it was close to Labor Day, there were no rooms available under $300.00 per night. The Imam and the brothers there searched for several hours trying to find affordable housing for us unsuccessfully. They then suggested that we could always stay there in their Masjid. There at the masjid the main floor is for the brothers and the upper floor is for the sisters. However, since we were husband and wife, theysaid that we both could sleep together in the sisters area. At this point I would like to mention that I have been to masjids all over the world. Some masjids don't even allow Muslimah in their Masjids. Some masjids are not even welcoming or friendly to Muslims that they do not know. How many sisters do you know can say that they have been welcome to spend the night at their home masjid.? Not very many. How many couples can say that they were invited to spend the night at any masjid?
They supplies us with all the sleeping bags blankets, sheets pillows etc. that we needed. and we were able to sleep there, make tahajjud, Fajr etc and thereafter we continued on our honeymoon journey. The masjid is clean and tidy and very comfortable, they also have a nice tidy bathroom area and a showers. The masjid has a full-school teaching all the academic subjects as well as hifz-Quran and other Islamic sciences, Arabic, Islam, Tajweed etc... Many Muslim families have moved close to the masjid and the housing in the area is modest and affordable. The brothers there pack the masjid for Fajr salat. The first few lines are full even before the adhan is called. The Imam has a tafsir talim after salat and the masjid is seemingly full of light (Nur). If you come anywhere near this area, I hope Allah will bless you with the privilege to spend some time with these Mumineen.
Thank you my brothers for your hospitalit, and may Allah welcome you as you welcomed us.
